Catena Networks' CN1000 Broadband Loop Carrier Recognized by Key Industry Publications; CN1000 Receives Three Awards Citing Its Highly Integrated POTS+DSL Architecture

Redwood Shores, California Catena Networks today announced that its CN1000 Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) has won three industry awards since its launch at the SUPERCOMM 2001 trade show in June. Earlier this month, Telecommunications magazine named the CN1000 BLC its Product of the Month.

``Catena's CN1000 integrates the functions of a Digital Loop Carrier System, DSLAM, and Media Gateway in an ingenious fashion,'' said Sue O'Keefe, editor-in-chief for Telecommunications. ``The key to the product's success is its patented in-house designed silicon, which eliminates the need for overlay access equipment.''

At SUPERCOMM, Catena's CN1000 BLC won the prestigious SUPERQuest award for ``Most Promising New Public Network Technology'' in the category of Access Networking Equipment. More than 250 companies entered this year's SUPERQUEST awards competition.

Most recently, the CN1000 received TMC Labs' 2001 Innovation Award from Internet Telephony magazine.

Tom Keating, vice president, CTO and executive technology editor for TMC Labs, said, ``We were very impressed with the simplicity and innovation behind the CN1000. By integrating POTS+DSL on every line, the CN1000 is a very attractive solution for carriers looking to extend their DSL footprint.''

``We are extremely honored that the CN1000 has received such esteemed awards from Telecommunications, SUPERCOMM, and TMC Labs,'' said Bob Machlin, president and CEO of Catena Networks. ``The overwhelmingly positive industry response validates the efforts that our team has put forth since the company's inception.''

The CN1000 BLC represents a new class of access system that helps carriers accelerate broadband DSL service delivery and more easily migrate from today's circuit-switched overlay network to a converged, packet-based public network.

Catena's CN1000 provides POTS+DSL on every line, at costs approaching POTS-only solutions. It dramatically reduces capital and operations costs by integrating the functions of a DSLAM, Digital Loop Carrier System and Media Gateway and by enabling no-truck-roll remote provisioning and management.
